Old Friends – Simon and Garfunkel Tribute Band – September 10th

Old Friends – Simon & Garfunkel Tribute Band • September 10, 2017, at 6 PM

The 2017 Season is set to end on a high note with Old Friends, a Simon and Garfunkel tribute band.  Old Friends recreates the 1981 free concert in Central Park that was attended by over 500,000 people and is regarded as one of the most memorable concerts in history.  Old Friends includes a nine piece backup band that completes the sound and experience of the 1981 concert in our own community’s “central park”, Victory Park.   One thing that the 1981 concert doesn’t have on Swingin’ at the Shell’s final concert of the 2017 series is the celebration of another great season and the Albion community with free hot dogs for all concert attendees.

Visit their website to learn more or become their fan on Facebook.

Music will start flowing from the Victory Park Band Shell at the usual time, 6PM, on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

Toppermost Beatles Tribute Band September 3

Toppermost – Beatles Tribute Band • September 3, 2017, at 6 PM

What can we say about Toppermost? They have been one of our most loved groups over the past fourteen season at the Shell.  Toppermost transports the audience back in time to enjoy, not only the sounds of The Beatles, but also the sights.  Band members perform in period costumes bringing The Beatles back to life, right in our community on our favorite stage, The Band Shell.  Toppermost has been touring for 10 years and is regarded as the best Beatles cover band in the midwest.

Don’t watch their whole concert video because you don’t want to spoil the whole experience before Sunday but instead, watch their “Hey Jude” video to just get a taste.  You can find out more about Toppermost at their website.

No changes in time or place, 6:00 PM at the Victory Park Band Shell.

Blackthorn August 27

Blackthorn • August 27, 2017, at 6 PM

Blackthorn is another returning group to Albion and they are excited to bring the sounds of Ireland back to the Band Shell.  Each of Blackthorn’s performances is unique because each of the 5 group members plays various instruments including wooden flute, accordion, tin whistle, five string banjo, cittern, bones and more. Blackthorn performs traditional songs of emigration, sea shanties, lively jigs and reels, and ancient airs combined with some of Ireland’s best contemporary songs.  Each of Blackthorn’s songs varies in tempo and textures providing a musical experience that captures the history and legend of Ireland. Sunday’s performance definitely won’t be a snooze but rather a great mixture of songs to get out of your chair to dance and then relax and reflect.

Just as with the past concerts, the music will start flowing from the Victory Park bandshell at 6PM but get there early and set up your blankets and lawn chairs so you can get your hands on tasty snacks before the concert starts.
