Blackthorn August 27

Blackthorn • August 27, 2017, at 6 PM

Blackthorn is another returning group to Albion and they are excited to bring the sounds of Ireland back to the Band Shell.  Each of Blackthorn’s performances is unique because each of the 5 group members plays various instruments including wooden flute, accordion, tin whistle, five string banjo, cittern, bones and more. Blackthorn performs traditional songs of emigration, sea shanties, lively jigs and reels, and ancient airs combined with some of Ireland’s best contemporary songs.  Each of Blackthorn’s songs varies in tempo and textures providing a musical experience that captures the history and legend of Ireland. Sunday’s performance definitely won’t be a snooze but rather a great mixture of songs to get out of your chair to dance and then relax and reflect.

Just as with the past concerts, the music will start flowing from the Victory Park bandshell at 6PM but get there early and set up your blankets and lawn chairs so you can get your hands on tasty snacks before the concert starts.

Get a sneak peak to the sights and sounds of Blackthorn by visiting their website as you can hear a selection of their music right from their website.
